Who lured J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk to be a bandit, even though he knew very well that banditry was considered a serious crime? And why was only 25-year-old J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk pierced by a hook through his rib on the gallows in Liptovsk\u00fd Mikul\u00e1\u0161, when he was robbing almost all over Slovakia? And what role did Countess von Schardon play in his story?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>J\u00c1NO\u0160\u00cdK\u2019S TORTURE CHAMBER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dark underground of the\u00a0Janko Kr\u00e1\u013e Museum<\/a>\u00a0hides an even darker exposition with torture instruments, with which the executioner almost always obtained a confession. <\/span>STATUE OF J\u00c1NO\u0160\u00cdK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who wouldn\u2019t want to take a photo with the most famous bandit? The statue of J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk can be found in the J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk Garden of the Janko Kr\u00e1\u013e Museum. In the garden, you can look for J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk\u2019s treasure, shoot at a target or be stretched!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>VRANOVO CASTLE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the Liptov throne finally caught J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk, it looked for a safe prison from which there would be no escape. They were also found in the Vranovo manor house \u2013 accessible only through an opening in the floor of the guardhouse. The manor still stands in the part of the town of Pal\u00fadzka, about 2 km west of the historic centre. It is private property, but you can enjoy its architecture. In front of it is a life-size statue of J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>EXECUTION SITE \u0160IBENI\u010cKY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The once dreaded place was engulfed in construction. For all the warnings, the execution site was located on a hill on the former outskirts of the city. The young 25-year-old J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk was hanged here by a left rib on March 17, 1713. Even the oldest monuments do not remember \u0160ibeni\u010dky, because the last bandit was beheaded here almost 200 years ago. But J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk\u2019s execution is commemorated by a monument, the dominant feature of which is an almost four-meter replica of the gallows and a relief of J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk.
