R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik lodge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span><\/span><strong>The foundation stone<\/strong> of the M. R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik pod \u010eumbierom lodge was laid on 20 July 1924. This lodge was supposed to replace the shelter built on top of \u010eumbier in 1902. The shelter was called \u2018Charles\u2019s protective cottage\u2019, but today it is just a pile of stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span><\/span><strong>The year-round operation of the lodge <\/strong><span>means visitors can stay in the mountains in all seasons. It provides <\/span><strong>accommodation <\/strong>in six eight-bed rooms. The lodge also has a restaurant where tourists can choose from several types of soups, breakfast and main dishes. The highest porter-carried draft beer in central Slovakia can be enjoyed at the M. R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik lodge!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span><\/span><strong>One of the deepest caves in Slovakia<\/strong><span> \u2013 <\/span><strong>Jasky\u0148a m\u0155tvych netopierov<\/strong> (Cave of Dead Bats) \u2013 is located under the lodge and is open to tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>The lodge is <\/span><strong>only<\/strong><span> <\/span><strong>accessible<\/strong><span> <\/span><strong>by foot<\/strong><span>. The easiest route up is from the Trango\u0161ka dolina valley along the green hiking trail. Other ways are from Chopok taking around 3 hours, from Kosodrevina taking around 2 hours, or from \u010certovica taking around 3 hours. <\/span><strong>Materials and goods<\/strong> for the operation of the lodge are brought up by porters, who carry about 40,000 kg up every year. Several Sherpa Rallye porter races to the lodge have been held, with the fastest coming from Trango\u0161ka, carrying 60 kg up in 55 minutes, while the time stated on the tourist signpost is 120 minutes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The foundation stone of the M.
