These precious calcite forms arised thanks to mineral contents of water, its temperature and, of course, the surface and structure of the landscape. If you have some free time, come and visit this &#8220;forsaken&#8221; pit situated to the north of the village.<br \/>\n<strong>\u201cThe Travertine Field\u201d<\/strong> formed thanks to favourable natural conditions in the village of Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact, travertine is soft limestone rock and its formation is affected by plenty of factors \u2013 water temperature, chemical contents of water, presence of organisms and CO2 in water, geological background, etc.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>The natural monument Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1 Travertines<\/strong> spreads to an area of 3.18 ha. The cascades of this exquisite limestone formation are shiny thanks to mineral water, which continuously streams down. This water does not contain only calcium carbonate but also magnesium, sulphur and iron. That is why the travertine formation in Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1 is extraordinarily colourful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is more, this travertine was used for producing of golden yellow boards, which even decorate the building of the Comenius University in Bratislava, or the Palace of Nations in Geneva!<\/p>\n<p><span>Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1 Travertine Formation is neither the most monumental nor the biggest travertine formation in the world, but still it is one of <\/span><strong>the most interesting<\/strong> ones thanks to its manifold structure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The village of Be\u0161e\u0148ov\u00e1 is one of the few precious places with occurrence of &#8220;freshwater&#8221; limestone, so-called travertine.
