The surrounding mountains are home to <\/span><strong>hundreds of climbing routes of varying difficulty<\/strong>. The rocks are formed mainly by limestone of various hardness and shape. While in some climbing areas there are mostly rock towers, others are known for rock walls and faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>There are about <\/span><strong>8 rock climbing areas<\/strong><span> and <\/span><strong>1 drytooling area (Ertoid) <\/strong><span>located in the Liptov region. The largest of them is the <\/span><strong>Machnat\u00f4<\/strong><span> climbing area (Low Tatras) boasting hundreds of climbing routes and consisting of a number of towers and walls. It is followed by a bit more challenging <\/span><strong>Sin\u00e1 <\/strong><span>and <\/span><strong>Biela dolinka<\/strong><span> (Liptovsk\u00fd J\u00e1n) climbing areas where there are mainly rock faces. One of <\/span><strong>the easiest <\/strong><span>climbing routes is the <\/span><strong><u>Prv\u00e1, IV<\/u><\/strong> route, located in <a href=\"https:\/\/plannervisit.krasno.dev\/trasa\/liptovsky-jan-biela-dolinka-lezenie-na-liptove\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Biela dolinka<\/strong><\/a> (Liptovsk\u00fd J\u00e1n). The most demanding climbing routes can be found in the area of <a href=\"https:\/\/plannervisit.krasno.dev\/trasa\/repiska-slnieckar-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Repisk\u00e1<\/strong><\/a>(Low Tatras).<br><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/plannervisit.krasno.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/sina_lezenie.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-134429\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plannervisit.krasno.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/sina_lezenie.jpg 720w, https:\/\/plannervisit.krasno.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/sina_lezenie-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-outline is-style-outline--9b448ed68722c01099348c7fa7111375\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/plannervisit.krasno.dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/4DL_Lezenie-na-Liptove_nahlad.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Leaflet about climbing in Liptov<\/strong><span> <\/span><strong>(.pdf)<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span><\/span><strong>The routes<\/strong><span>&nbsp;are <\/span><strong>about 20 metres long<\/strong><span>, but some areas have routes that are more than 30 metres long, so you <\/span><strong>need to bring at least a 60-metre long rope<\/strong><span> (10-metre reserve is recommended). Check the climbing route length before each climb. As there is a danger of loose rock, <\/span><strong>wearing a helmet is recommended on climbs in all the climbing areas with no exceptions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since all the climbing areas are protected by the 5<sup>th<\/sup> highest level of nature protection, all open fires are banned. <strong>Thank you for following the guidelines for visitors to national parks at this level of protection. The area features interesting limestone towers and walls. The left part of the rocks is formed of dolomitic limestone and offers a selection of beautiful long routes of varying difficulties. The rocks face south. The right part of the rocks is conglomerate rock with many pockets and it faces south-east. The area is suitable for climbing in spring, summer and autumn, with shaded sectors offering good conditions for climbing in warmer months.<\/p>\n<p>The routes are well protected and their difficulty ranges from 3 UIAA to 9 UIAA, which is the difficulty of the hardest route called Bestseller direkt.\u00a0 The area also offers a number of easier routes suitable for both beginners and children. The climbing guide describes 146 routes located in 20 sectors, with new routes being continuously added. Climbing is permitted all year round.<\/p>\n<p>Almost all the rocks are located in the protection zone of the Low Tatras National Park as well as on the land owned by the forest landowners association. The visitors to the area are therefore required to respect the prohibition signs and follow the rules of good conduct.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>Approach: <\/strong><span>The Machnat\u00f4 climbing area is located in the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 valley, approximately 12 km from Liptovsk\u00fd Mikul\u00e1\u0161 and 1.5 km from the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Cave of Liberty, on the left side of the road leading to the Jasn\u00e1 ski resort. You can park your car on the parking lot next to the road <\/span><strong>48.987186, 19.592201<\/strong>. It takes from 3 to 10 minutes to get from the parking lot to the rocks.<\/p>\n<p><span>If the parking lot is full,\u00a0you can use the one in L\u00fa\u010dky, at the ski resort. <\/span><strong>48.980979, 19.592146.<\/strong><\/p>\n    <\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n  <div id=\"\" class=\"accordion\">\r\n    <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n      <span class=\"icon-plus\"><span><\/span><\/span>\r\n      Sin\u00e1, N\u00edzke Tatry (3)    <\/a>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\" >\r\n      <p><span>Probably t<\/span><strong>he most beautiful part of the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 valley<\/strong><span> consisting of a limestone massif which stretches from the mouth of the valley to the half of the Sin\u00e1 mountain. <\/span><strong>Climbing is permitted only in the bottom part of the mountain<\/strong>, from May 1 to Febuary 28. The bottom part is divided into Horn\u00e9 and Doln\u00e9 skaly. The exception is valid until 2022 but we believe that it will be extended.<\/p>\n<p><span>Climbing here is very <\/span><strong>unique and special<\/strong><span>. The rock is <\/span><strong>solid and has many faces<\/strong><span>, so the climbs here are technical and endurance demanding. Most of the holds are small. <\/span><strong>More than 100 routes<\/strong><span> vary in difficulty, ranging <\/span><strong>from VI+ to X+ UIAA<\/strong>, with most of them having the difficulty level of about VIII. It is, however, important to remember that the routes are half a degree more difficult than the routes in the other climbing areas. The whole massif faces south, so the rock is hot in summer. With the exception of the bottom cave, the whole area is ideal for climbing on cold days. Because of the features of the rock, the whole area best suits experienced climbers who will not regret visiting Sin\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>Approach: 10 min.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Take the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 dolina exit from the D1 highway and continue t<\/span><strong>o the parking lot in front of the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Cave of Liberty<\/strong><span> (Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1\u00a0 jasky\u0148a slobody). Then follow the yellow f<\/span><strong>ootpath markers<\/strong><span> on a path leading to the top of <\/span><strong>Sin\u00e1<\/strong><span>. Enter the valley and walk past a meandering creek. <\/span><strong>After about 200 metres<\/strong><span> leave the footpath to Sin\u00e1 and <\/span><strong>turn right to the footpath<\/strong><span> that will take you right beneath the rocks. From here you will see a row of rocks which you will reach easily in<\/span><strong> about 5 minutes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n    <\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n  <div id=\"\" class=\"accordion\">\r\n    <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n      <span class=\"icon-plus\"><span><\/span><\/span>\r\n      Repisk\u00e1, N\u00edzke Tatry (4)    <\/a>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\" >\r\n      <p><span>Probably the most difficult climbing area in the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 valley consisting\u00a0 of a\u00a0limestone arch soaring over the Repisk\u00e1 hotel. It comprises three distinctive arches and a\u00a0technical face situated in the right lower part. <\/span><strong>Climbing here is permitted all year round<\/strong> but it is good to check it on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.james.sk\/\">www.james.sk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span>The area offers <\/span><strong>power and endurance climbing<\/strong><span>. The rock is relatively solid and most of the routes lead to a distinctive overhang. There are <\/span><strong>more than 50 climbing<\/strong><span> <\/span><strong>routes<\/strong><span> ranging in difficulty <\/span><strong>from V+ to X+ UIAA<\/strong><span>, with most of them having the difficulty level of around VII. As the whole massif faces south, the rock is hot in summer, especially the arch which is even a bit hotter. <\/span><strong>That is why it is better to climb it in winter and autumn<\/strong>, or in rainy weather. It is ideal for strong sport climbers who want to push their limits.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>Approach: 15 min.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Take the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 dolina exit from the D1 highway and continue <\/span><strong>to the parking lot in front of the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Cave of Liberty<\/strong><span> (Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 jasky\u0148a slobody). Then <\/span><strong>walk<\/strong><span> the asphalt road to the Repisk\u00e1 hotel (<\/span><strong>15 min.<\/strong>). There is an arch towering above the hotel. From there you can either continue walking the asphalt road or use a\u00a0steep footpath that will take you directly to the arch. The footpath is located next to the retaining wall of the hotel.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n  <div id=\"\" class=\"accordion\">\r\n    <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n      <span class=\"icon-plus\"><span><\/span><\/span>\r\n      Ertoid, Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 dolina, N\u00edzke Tatry (5)    <\/a>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\" >\r\n      <p><span>Form: <\/span><strong>drytooling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Newly established drytooling area in the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 valley.\u00a0 Drytooling is a form of rock climbing in which ice axes and crampons are used to climb rock. Instead of using hands to rock climb, the climber hooks ice axes onto holds and pockets. Climbing Ertoid requires <\/span><strong>a lot of power and endurance.<\/strong> The climbing area consists of a wide limestone overhang which is only about ten metres high but it is very steep, with a short roof on its top.<\/p>\n<p><span>Climbing here <\/span><strong>is permitted all year round<\/strong>. The wide overhang protects against rain but when there are heavy rains, water runs down over it. There are quickdraws clipped to the bolts during the winter months but they are removed in summer.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>Approach: 5 min.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Take the Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 dolina exit from the D1 highway and continue to the parking lot in front of the <\/span><strong>Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Ice Cave<\/strong> (Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1\u00a0 \u013eadov\u00e1 jasky\u0148a). From there walk the asphalt road past the RiverSide hotel and then take the footpath on the left side of the creek. It will take you 5 minutes to get to a high distinctive wide overhang with quickdraws.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n  <div id=\"\" class=\"accordion\">\r\n    <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n      <span class=\"icon-plus\"><span><\/span><\/span>\r\n      Biela dolinka, Liptovsk\u00fd J\u00e1n, N\u00edzke Tatry (6)    <\/a>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\" >\r\n      <p><span>A nice quiet area hidden in the woods of the Biela dolinka behind the Liptovsk\u00fd J\u00e1n village. It comprises several limestone reefs that are divided into four main sectors. It is <\/span><strong>suitable for beginner<\/strong><span> as well as experienced climbers who favour technical routes.\u00a0 The big advantage is that climbing is <\/span><strong>allowed all year round<\/strong> and so you can spend nice time here on warm winter days.<\/p>\n<p><span>The routes vary in difficulty, ranging<\/span><strong> from IV to IX+ UIAA<\/strong><span>, with most of them having the difficulty level of around VI and VII.\u00a0 The routes are <\/span><strong>technical<\/strong> and the longer ones are also strenuous, requiring a great deal of endurance.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>Approach: 15 min.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Take the Liptovsk\u00fd J\u00e1n exit from the D1 highway, drive through the village and into the J\u00e1nska valley. Pass the thermal swimming pool and the Strachanovka hotel and restaurant. Continue past <\/span><strong>the Bystr\u00e1 hotel<\/strong><span> (on your right) and take the first right. <\/span><strong>Park your car in the parking lot next to a waterworks building<\/strong><span> and then <\/span><strong>walk<\/strong><span> the valley past the creek for about <\/span><strong>10 minutes<\/strong>. At the point where the forest footpath crosses the creek keep to the right and walk the path uphill to the rocks (5 minutes).<\/p>\n    <\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n  <div id=\"\" class=\"accordion\">\r\n    <a href=\"#\" class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n      <span class=\"icon-plus\"><span><\/span><\/span>\r\n      Komjatn\u00e1, Cho\u010dsk\u00e9 vrchy (7)    <\/a>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\" >\r\n      <p><span>The newest climbing area in Liptov consisting of a 50-metre-high conglomerate rock. It towers over the boundary of the Studni\u010dn\u00e1 and Komjatn\u00e1 villages, in the municipality of Ru\u017eomberok. It hosts beautiful climbing routes for climbers <\/span><strong>of different levels and offers an opportunity to climb long routes<\/strong>. An amazing feature of conglomerate rock is that it has many holds, scales and notches, which is why the area is the top rock climbing destination in Liptov. The view from the top of the rock is one of the most beautiful in the region.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><strong>Approach: 15 min.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Take the road leading from Ru\u017eomberok towards Doln\u00fd Kub\u00edn. At Komjatn\u00e1 turn right and carry on for about 2 km up the hill. You will see Studni\u010dn\u00e1 &#8211; part of the Komjatn\u00e1 village &#8211; from there. <\/span><strong>Park<\/strong><span> the car on the hill, right next to the chapel that stands next to the road. Then take the field path towards Komjatn\u00e1. Cross the meadow and <\/span><strong>walk<\/strong><span> the steep short hill that will lead you to the forest. Turn left to the forest and follow the footpath. It will take you <\/span><strong>5 minutes<\/strong> to get to the top of the reef.
