Slovak Museum of Nature Protection and Speleology

Janko Kráľ Museum

Let´s walk in Jánošík’s footsteps.

Do not miss Jánošík’s torture chamber and the courtroom in the first chair house (now the Janko Kráľ Museum), where presumably the death penalty was imposed on a young 25-year-old Jánošík in March 1713.

Paintings, icons and sculptures from the 15th to 19th century, top works of Slovak artists from the 19th to 20th century, but also contemporaries. Interesting exhibitions and perfect portraits of P. M. Bohúň in the gallery of the same name, which is the third oldest in Slovakia. You can end the experience of meeting art in the large gallery garden with benches signed by the artists.

Jewish synagogue

Let yourself be enchanted by one of the largest and most stylish synagogues in Slovakia.

Its Art Nouveau interior is dominated by blue-gold stucco decoration and a dome with beautiful stained glass. However, the synagogue (open all year round on request) is not the only sacral monument that is open for sightseeing. In July and August you can also visit the St. Nikolas Church, the Church of St. Peter of Alcantara or the Evangelical Church. Their atmosphere on Tuesdays and Thursdays is enhanced by summer organ half-hour concerts.

Forest park Háj-Nicovô

Breathe in the Tatra nature with unbeatable views.

It is definitely worth stepping on the top of Háj – Nicovô hill, as it is considered one of the most beautiful viewing points in Liptov. The fascinating panorama of the nearby Tatras, the surface of the Liptovská Mara reservoir and the town of Liptovský Mikuláš will be in front of you. At the same time, there is the reverential area of ​​World War II. You can reach the top of Háj by the walking trail Nature and Landscape around us or by the asphalt General P. Kuna Road, which is also accessible for cars. Athletes will certainly appreciate the running routes of olympians Petra Vlhová and Michal Martikán who  come from Liptovský Mikuláš.

Bicycle path

Safely on the bike path along the banks of the river Váh.

Go 6.5 kilometers by bike, in-line skates or scooter. Relax in three bike shelters and on benches, use the children’s and workout playgrounds or skate park. The cycle path copies the Váh dam, which is popular with recreational runners and its natural environment is also attractive for peaceful walks.

Do you dare to cross the same tracks as the famous water slalom racers Jakub Grigar, Michal Martikán and other sportsmen from Liptovský Mikuláš who belong to the world’s top ones? Of course you can do it under the supervision of experienced instructors from the sports agency. Are you more attracted to wakeboarding or wakeskating? Then head for the Ondrej Cibák Water Slalom Site , which is mainly a place of training and top competitions in this sport.
